Guthrie Govan is one of the most versatile guitarists out there, a virtuoso who other guitar legends praise. I first came across him as the author of an article written for the magazine Guitar Techniques. I then did a search for him on YouTube and found plenty of great videos with close up footage so that you can see exactly what he's doing (for example, the video below). Govan is also a great teacher and eloquently explains theory and technique. Guthrie Govan songs that stand out are "Fives", "Waves" & "Wonderful Slippery Thing", all found on his Erotic Cakes album.
